The Fordite Duo cufflinks are crafted from sterling silver with a powerful design that puts some weighted style on your sleeves. The Fordite (aka 'Motor City Agate') inlays have been carefully inlaid into each cufflink and hand polished to a seamless finish.
Sterling silver is an alloy of silver containing 92.5% by mass of silver and usually 7.5% by mass of copper. The sterling silver standard has a minimum millesimal fineness of 925. The sterling alloy originated in continental Europe and was being used for commerce as early as the 12th century in the area that is now northern Germany. Fordite, also called Motor Agate or Detroit Agate, is an entirely man-made jewel created by scraping layers of the enamel paint slag that had been dripped into pools onto the metal tracks during the “old days” when Ford and other assembly-line cars were spray-painted by people, not robots. Our Fordite is sourced from the Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge plant.
