The Kestrel 'Copper Canyon' features a beautiful frame in William Henry's signature 'Wave' mokume, inlaid with a beautiful piece of orange spalted beechwood. The blade is 'Copper 'Wave' damascus with an extra strong core in VG-5; the one-hand button lock and the thumb stud are set with smoky quartz gemstones. An exceptional design that offers rigorous performance in a sleek, comfortable knife, the Kestrel is also the perfect canvas to showcase William Henry’s range of exotic materials and techniques. This beautiful William Henry exclusive blade steel (patent pending) incorporates copper and stainless steel into a 45 layer Wave Damascus that features a core of VG-5 stainless steel. This steel attains a hardness of HRC 59, excellent by any standards, at the cutting edge.

Wave Mokume

Wave Mokume is another William Henry exclusive material (patent pending) that fuses traditional metal forging with modern fabricating technology. This alloy features copper, stainless steel, and pure iron in a 55 layer billet patterned with our undulating Wave. When highly polished and heat colored, the iron layers take on deep browns, purples, or blues according to temperature and quenching technique.

Smoky Quartz

Smoky quartz is a grey, translucent variety of quartz. It ranges in clarity from almost complete transparency to a brownish-gray crystal that is almost opaque.
Smoky Quartz was known as a Stone of Power. To the ancient Druids, it was sacred and signified the potent dark power of Earth gods and goddesses.

Beech Wood

Beech is an important and widely-used hardwood. Its hardness, wear-resistance, strength, and excellent bending capabilities, make this hardwood a mainstay for many skilled woodworkers. Depending on soil conditions, Beech can grow to very large sizes.
The veneer tends to be slightly darker colored, as slicing the veneer usually requires the wood to be prepared with steam, which gives the wood the beautiful golden tone
